It's really stressful waiting. I had a CT Colonoscopy on the NHS 29th September and haven't had the results. My gynaecologist who I saw privately has tried to get the report but it hasn't been done - as of 24th Oct. I have left lots of messages for the secretaries but they don't reply.

The letter I had informing me of the details of the scan said the results would be reviewed by a consultant colorectal surgeon within 4 weeks and I would be contacted by letter with the results.

A week after the scan I spoke to a secretary who said they usually get the results where cancer is present within a few days and they haven't had mine, which is a good sign. She said I would get a letter with the results and a copy to my GP.  My GP has heard nothing. Really six weeks is too long to wait. I just want to know what's wrong with me as I still have the symptoms.

I am seeing the NHS colorectal consultant privately on Monday 9th Nov. His private secretary has said they will request the scan images from the NHS.

It really is bad when you have to resort to private healthcare. I am just hoping the NHS Trust actually have my scans to pass on and they haven't been lost.

thank you so much for your reply, the waiting is definitely a worry and I am still experiencing symptoms I think may be due to the colonography and the dye they used? 9 days after I still have black loose stools! For me it's the not knowing, I understand the NHS are under immense strain with everything that is going on.

I wasn't given any specific time of when I would hear anything but from reading it is 1-2 weeks?

im sorry to hear you still haven't heard anything and have had to go private as a result of this, I'm keeping everything crossed that you hear this week and that your results bring you some answers

Thanks for this. I'm not sure if you're symptoms would be because of the colonoscopy. Nine days is a long time to be suffering like that. Of course I'm no expert and it might be normal but in my case I was passing loose yellow stools the day afterwards then I was ok.

As you say, it's the not knowing and not being able to get any reliable timescale of when the results will be available and how they will be communicated.

Hope you hear something this week. I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow. My appointment is 5pm.

Finally got the results of the CT Colonoscopy. All looks ok. My consultant is now going to do a flexible sigmoidoscopy and I should get a letter of details of this in the next few weeks.

Hope you are as well as can be expected and hear something soon from the hospital. x

Oh that's great news! Well I hope all goes well with the sigmoidoscopy and at least they have given you a timeframe to work from.

I spoke with secretary today my  consultant has report and will be in touch shortly, fingers crossed 

Well that's good, at least they have the report and they'll hopefully let you know something soon. You feel more in control as you say, with a timeframe.

I'm in same boat only I had my CTC on 22 nd Nov and despite being told it will be a week!! After ring as two week point came I was told they were waiting on another Hospital, after a few more days I was told up to 4 weeks now with same reason given !! No news is good news was the next comment!! At that point I blew!!!... Then it slipped out that they could see the results but we're not allowed to tell me( referring to the wait if Hospital again.. in view of Xmas at the door it's not fair keeping patient waiting on hold for what I see as stupid reasons.. This needs to change, the testing appointments and CTC scan was done super fast then it all comes to a halt !
