ovarian mass, raised CA125 - Awaiting MRI

Hi All, I'm new and not sure if i have cancer or not!!

Wondered if anyone else has been in my position?  About 2 months ago i had an awful heavy period, they have always been pretty heavy, but i had a uterine ablation about 3 years ago and things have much improved.  So post this heavy perios i was left with frequent peeing and dragging feeling in pelvis, so dropped urine to GP for UTI test.  That was negative and the GP called, i was having routine bloods, so they arrnaged those and said to get in touch if pain continued.  I went on holiday on 9th October and on 12th Oct received a call from the GP saying the locum had added a CA125 to my bloods and that it was raised so i needed an USS.  I returned from Holidays on 16th Oct and had an USS on 22nd October, the sonographer showed me a mass on my right ovary measuring 4 x 3 x 2 cm, she said it was fairly solid with blood flow and some other suspicious features,  I was referred to Gynae on 2 week wait.  Saw Gynae surgeon on 29th Oct and she re-did bloods and ordered another USS with a specilist radiologist.  That was booked for this week Tuesaday 3rd Nov, on the morning of the 3rd, surgeon called to say they had taken my case to oncology MDT on the 2nd Nov and that i now needed an MRI scan with contrast and definitely an ophrectomy, but they would know more after scan.  They also confirmed that my CA125 had risen by 50% again in 3 weeks.  So i am now waiting for 2 things, transfer to the Womens Hospital as I have no faith in my local hospital due to previous issues and they haven't been great over all this and an MRI, booked for 12th Nov as all the MRI scanners are shut this week for maintenance. I hope i get appt at womens hospital before scan and can have all further treatment there.  I am 45, pre menopausal and no family history.  But i have frequency of peeing and can't eat much as makes me feel full and sick.  Bowels are slow and pain on and off, much worse when they've been prodding me!  Anyone else had this path and similar investigations, treatment?

  • Hello LadyTP,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. Poor you, you have been through a lot recently. It won't be long now before you have your MRI. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more and knowing that your CA125 has risen again by 50%. I hope that you an get some answers on all this soon.

Waiting for these two things - the transfer to the Women's Hospital and the MRI -must be nerve wracking. I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
