I am 28 years old and last week I went to see my GP 2 days after finding a lump in my lower left breast. I was told the lump was about 1.5cm in size, firm, felt smooth but wasn't particularly mobile. It also does not hurt. For these reasons my GP decided to refer me to the breast clinic for an ultrasound scan and I was told I would be contacted to arrange an appointment for 2-3 weeks time.
Fast forward a week and the lump is now significantly smaller. It's still there but less than half the size it was. I'm wondering if it would even still be there when I went to the breast clinic. So my question is - should I still go for the ultrasound? I don't want to waste the hospitals time and resources if the lump has disappeared or much reduced. But on the other hand I don't want anything sinister to be missed!
