Ultrasound scan found gallstones, also liver tumour.

Hello, Please can I ask for some advice as I am feeling so afraid.

My husband went for an ultrascan to confirm gallstones.  Has lately said they also found a liver tumour on the bottom of his liver when being scanned.    Sent for a CT SCAN, and had the dye injected while there. 

No biopsy or blood tests where done.  No sign of yellow in eyes, urine fine, no pain.

Is this a good sign??   Would the radiographer not have taken a biopsy if something bad was seen concerning the mass?

Husband has an appointment this friday 6th november, to speak to our doctor.

Trying to be so positive on the outside, when inside I feel my world has exploded.

Any advice would be so appreciated

    That is exactly what has happened to me.  I had an ultrasound because I had 3 bouts of severe pain in right upper abdomen. They found multiple gallstones and a lesion on my liver. I was referred for urgent ct scan with dye and I am waiting for the results.  I have no follow up appt yet and have no idea what happens next. I'm going out of my mind with worry. 
    I have done a lot of googling which I know you shouldn't do but there is a lot of incidental findings of lesions there and a lot are benign. Fingers crossed that will be the case for us. 
    please let me know how he gets on.

    Thank you for replying to me its so appeciated.  I am driving myself insane as I have googled all sorts and I am trying to convince myself that yes, these types of tumours are found incidentally and are benign, but on the other hand if it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck whatsoever.  If I could give you a massive hug I so would as the worry is so intense, I can hear my very heartbeat when I try to sleep. I have no idea how my husband is coping, he said we shall cross the bridge when or if it comes.   I so have everything crossable, crossed,  that you both get an answer soon.  I will so let you know TI what is said on Friday. Thank you again for responding.

    Good luck BornWorried. I'm not a medic but take heart from the words 'at the bottom of the liver.' Which may make surgery easier, if it is is indeed cancer. Far better than being located in the middle. The best of all would be if it turns out to be benign. An ultrasound is not a diagnosis. The CT results will tell you much more.     Thank you for replying to me to, I really do appreciate it.  I think I had read more about liver tumours than any other subject in my life Harry :sad:  

    I have never known a week to last so long.

    My heart is breaking Harry,  for the amount of people that have gone through and are going through this at the minute. :sad:  He's simply my whole world, he's my person.

    Please forgive me for taking so long to reply today, today has gone by so quickly.

    It was brilliant news TI.  I have finally stopped crying and shaking.  We can breathe.

    We had the phonecall at 9.01am to say the tumour isnt cancerous, its called a

    liver hemangioma.  

    Let me just grab what it says :-

    A liver hemangioma is a tangled network of blood vessels in or on the surface of the liver. This tumor is noncancerous and usually doesn’t cause symptoms. In fact, most people don’t even know they have a liver hemangioma. It’s usually only discovered during a test or procedure for an unrelated condition. Even when they’re diagnosed, most liver hemangiomas don’t require treatment.

     

    I am so crossing my fingers, toes, and everything else i can cross for you to get some brilliant news yourself TI.  Please would you mind if I keep checking in with you and Harry to see how both are.  You and Harry joined my journey when I felt the world had stopped,  I would like to stay in your corners cheering you on from the sidelines if thats ok.
