Anxious!

Okay, so last year I had a smear test my first smear and it come back, no cell change and HPV positive ( I ignorantly thought my partner has cheated and vis versa as I haven't really heard anything about HpV and missed the vaccine at school ) anyway I was told to have 12 monthly smear tests, so this year I had one in June, it come back in early September HPV positive and cell change, with a letter to have a Colposcopy and a  was given appointment for the next week. The morning before my appointment I got a email from them with information about "a biopsy " this confused me as nothing was mentioned I original letter.
I attended and was treated by the most lovely nurses and doctor and a colposcopy was performed, it was a little uncomfortable but not much different to a smear. Four samples was taken, and I did regretfully ask if it looked okay and she said she feels I'll need treatment and my results will be back in four weeks.. I am now 7 weeks into my four week wait. I am going insane anytime the post comes and it isn't there. I have chased and the receptionist said because of covid it has pushed everything back and the back log is 8-10 weeks for results..

I have lower back pain, pain in my legs, urinating 5-6 a hour, pain in my pelvis, bleeding between periods and after sex.

am I being over paranoid??? No news is good news right?

  • Hi Hopeandjoy,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can certainly understand the wait must be frustrating and unsettling. I think to be honest it's not possible to read anything into the waiting time, other than that there is perhaps simply a bit of a backlog as the receptionist said.

As hard as it is, I would encourage you to not assume anything and just to try to sit tight for the results. If they still don't come within the new time window you've been given, give them another call to follow it up.

I hope it's not too much longer to wait for you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
