A very warm welcome to the forum that nobody really wants to join. I am sorry to hear about your lump, but you are doing the right thing in consulting your GP tomorrow. 

Some people of about your age have had difficulty in persuading their GPs to see them at present due to the pandemic. If you phone early in the morning and insist on a face-to-face appointment, you should still get one, although this is at your GP's discretion. Some GPs have been referring patients straight to the breast clinic once they learn of their symptoms, without even seeing them.

If your GP considers that there might be a problem, you will be referred to the breast clinic. You should get this within a 2 week time frame from the date of referral. 

Here you are likely to be examined, have an ultrasound and/or a biopsy. You then have a further 1-2 weeks to wait for the results of these tests. This is usually when you know whether all is clear or not. Try not to panic, as it is unusual, although not impossible to have cancer at your age. It is also a fact that only 1 person in every 8 referred will get a cancer diagnosis.

It sounds as if this couldn't have come at a worse time for you, although there is never a good time to be going through this. It is only natural to find your emotions all over the place and to fear the worst. Fortunately, this is something that seldom comes to pass. I felt the same 11 years ago and, am still here and leading a busy life.

Whatever you do, try to avoid consulting Google, as this will only heighten your fears unnecessarily.

thanks so much for your reply and talking me through it. I reached out to a lovely girl on Instagram who is currently going through treatment who has been extremely helpful and kind. It's lovely to have some support from strangers  

Luckily, my doctor saw me Monday morning, confirmed the lump but said it moves which is a good thing? She has referred me to the hospital so I'm just awaiting that date now. Still very tearful, but hopeful it isn't anything too serious

I know you will be worried and everyone is different but just want to say that my daughter had the same and was checked at breast clinic and it was fibroids, it is such a scary time but you are now in the system so hopefully  will be seen soon and fingers crossed will get your mind put at rest, take care xx

Yes  she is fine thank you, I have also just had an appointment 2 weeks ago due to pain in my left breast, spreading to my arm pit, I went for a check up and nurse referred me for an urgent appointment as she felt a lump. Another long 2 weeks wait then an examination,  mammogram and scan, all clear so told it is hormonal. There are lots of reasons for lumps, breast pain etc always best to get it checked but try and keep busy and stay off Google, I didn't and terrified myself xx

I am glad to hear that you managed to see your GP on Monday and that she has referred you to make sure that there is nothing untoward present. She is right that having a moveable lump augers well. Most of the nastier onesare firm and have jagged edges.

I am delighted to hear that you have found someone on Instagram who has been helpful. If she is currently undergoing treatment, you may find it helpful to be able to get tips from her as she travels her journey.
