Awaiting biopsy results

Hi need some advice and anyone who has been through  similar to myself.

Roughly 4 months ago my son dug his elbow into my breast by accident. A few days later i found a small lump and was very tender and sore for over 1 months. The pain subsided went away eventually. However 2 months ago i was wearinga new /tight bra and  few days later the lump doubled in size and became sore again. Seen gp who said nothing to worry about and was told it was an infection and was given antibiotics. A few days after round the injury it started to bruise so i thought it was getting better. After antibiotics were finished lump was still there so seen gp again who thought it was an abcess and would refer me to breast clinic. Attended breast clinic, was given mammogram ultrasound  and biopsy. Technician said part of lymph node at arm pit was slightly enlarged. Specialist then said it look more than likely to be cancer and would need to wait on biopsy results. Juat cant get my head round it could be cancer due to my injury exactly where the lump is. Lump is hard to touch and roughly 4inches. Has anyone had an injury like this and biopsy came back clear?

  • Hello Mummyto2boys

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had to attend breast clinic. It's understandably a difficult time and natural that you're feleing worried and a little confused about what this lump actually is.

Try to keep in mind that the majority of women who attend breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer but in the meantime if you'd like to have a chat with one of our nurses then you're welcome to call them. I'm sure they will be able to offer you some support and reassurance. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you have some news soon. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
