Clouds on lung

Hello, I hope everyone here is well and keeping safe.

I am a 26 year old female. Never smoked.

I have severe asthma rather then that I am genuinely healthy. I would really appreciate it please if I can get some help on what does a shadow on lung mean? I had a CT scan done and my doctor said it showed some abnormalities their was some clouds on the lung he suggested to get a repeat CT scan in 3 months I have just had it today and waiting for results. Please any ideas of what it can be? Is their a possibility that it could be cancer? Any answers highly  appreciated

I am very worried! Is their a high chance that it is cancer? Or might it be just an infection. If it is an infection why did my consultant order a repeat CT in 3 months that I just had today.

I would really appreciate it to get a reply because I am very worried and don't know what to think.

thank you !!

  • Welcome to the forum Noshi although I'm sorry for the reason you're joining us.

Hopefully some of our members who have had similar findings will share their thoughts and experiences with you soon but one of our nurses may be better placed to answer your questions so if you'd like to have a chat with them, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m

Fingers crossed you're not waiting too long on those results and that the shadow/clouds are no cause for concern.

  • Hi - am not medically qualified and can only speak from personal experience. Only your doctors and scan results can tell you what is going on. But you seem to be asking for possibilities. One possibility that I know of from personal experience is that cloudy lungs may indicate infection (eg mycoplasma which is not always treated with antibiotics as can resolve on its own). Shadowing could be (does not mean that it is) something like fibrosis associated with a current or past infection(s) and which may or may not resolve over time.

Don't make automatic jumps in your head but suggest you wait for CT scan results to understand how things are playing out over time. Sounds like doctors want to keep an eye on things especially given the severe asthma. So try not to worry too much. Hope you get good news with the latest scan... Please let us know how you get on.

  • Hi

I am wondering if you have had any results yet as I'm in a very similar position myself.

I had ct scan in August which found enlarged lymph nodes...im due to have repeat scan 30th November.  I also have constantly high platelet count and high crp count. I have anaemia and low vit d levels among other odd test results.

Have you heard back from your doc regarding scan and ate any of your blood tests not quite normal?

Hope your ok .... I know exactly how your feeling xxx
