Waiting for appointment Breast lump and pain

I have pain sometimes in both breasts but this time it’s just the left which prompted me to check everything. I have found a lump it’s bigger than a pea and it feels smooth but Kind of hard. So scared because I don’t know if the pain is related to the lump or not. And a painless lump i read can be worse? But then the pain may be related.  I am exhausted but that could be thyroid and I’m also getting headaches and I daren’t google that. I’m 35 and I’m petrified of it being something because I am so stressed all the time and feel stress causes so much to the body. I don’t know when my appointment will be and I’ve been referred without an examination because of covid. So I don’t know what they will do. I have a little girl and I just want to cry because I need to be healthy. Just scared of having the tests done.

  • Hello Redbootz

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some general health cocnerns recently and that you've now found a breast lump. It's good to know that the GP has referred you to breast clinic to get this checked.

We know that many of our members here find this period of waiting for appointments and tests to be particularly hard. The unknown can be a scary prospect and it's natural that you're feeling the way  you are.
It can help to talk things through with someone and so I wondered if you'd like to speak with one of our nurses. I'm sure that they will be able to offer some advice and support ahead of your appointment. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

In the meantime, try to take each day as it comes and not look too far ahead as this will just make you more anxious. It might help to try and keep in mind that the majority of women who attend breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer.

I hope you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,
