Post menopause cramping, family history Ovarian Cancer

I'm driving myself to the edge of madness (actually possibly over the edge today ).

Mother died of ovarian cancer. Have a transvaginal ultrasound annually as a result, last was in June (same time as mammogram, fun week ), all clear. Am 53, no period for 5 years.

However last 4 weeks suffering with lower back ache ( no external reason) and most worryingly, cramps like period pain (haven't had a period in years).

Every time I wake up and it's still there I could weep!

Full disclosure, I'm currently tapering off HRT patches and my hot flushes have returned with bobs on.  Perhaps the cramps are related.

No issues with appetite, bloating or going to the loo.

Very conflicting info online regards menstrual cramps and looking for any words wisdom. With thanks x

  • Hello Scottishmuppet,

It may be that the cramps are related so it might be a good idea to go back to your GP find out what they recommend to help with the pain. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers on an online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better.  And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

    I hope this is helpful,
