Multiple breast lumps

Im looking for support and information, my husband is no help and I cant speak to my mother as died died last year and this would tip her over the edge. Im 48 yrs old and had been on HRT for 6 years but weaned off and have been off 3 weeks ago. About 2 months ago I found a small lump in my right breast which felt a bit like a large seed, smooth, and thin, oval shape. Im not sure if it moved or not its hard to say. I didnt think it was anything but 4 weeks ago my right arm pit feels swollen and fuller but no painful or anything. 2 weeks ago I went to the doctor who examined me and never made mention of the armpit but did say she found two lumps in my right breast but they seemed nodular as opposed to lumps - whatever that means. She found another lump in my left breast underneath which again she felt was noduar but the lumps arent symmetrical. The seed like lump gets a bit sore if I try to move it but the others are painless. The doctor said she would put in an urgent referral and I would hear an appointment in about two weeks. Ive heard nothing. I phoned the breast clinic today and told due to covid there is am 8-12 week wait for urgent referrals and 9 months for non urgent. I cant beleieve this I cant hold it together for that long, if its cancer it could spread during that time. Is it usual to have so many lumps. I have an 8 year old and dont know what he would do if something happened to me.

  • Hi,

I am sorry that you are going through this. I have no advice unfortunately as I have been referred for a lump that biopsies have now been taken from and I get the results next week, but I couldn't not give a reply as I appreciate your worry. I really do hope that you get seen quickly and that all will be well for you. Xx

  • Thank you for taking the time to reply, I do think the NHS has its priorities all wrong sometimes. I also have T1 diabetes and today I got my annual appointment through (after 16 months) and due to Covid its virtual. Im not sure how they are going to check my feet, do my blood tests, Blood pressure and urine tests via a virtual app. So many people are going to suffer due to Covid and the back log of general care is awful.

I feel for you and hope they are just being extra thorough and all is well, take care x

  • I agree. I understand they are under pressure but the cost will be much more for operations and further medication for cancer, that could have been treated earlier.

    Take care xx
