Just some reassurance

Hello

My son has been for bloods following stomach cramps, watery poop that was very pale and floaty, suspected coeliac disease.

Anyway he had bloods yesterday and the gp called me today to say his white  blood count is abnormal, and he needs the test repeated Excatly 1 week from the 1st blood test, she said this blood test will be looked at under a microscope and will be a little diff?

So I rebooked his bloods for next Thurs, and went to Google bad mistake all I could see was leukaemia.

I called the surgery back and they said his white blood count was 6.0 followed by 10 and a 9.

Obviously this makes no sense to me what so ever, has anyone else had to have bloods repeated, or she'd some light on this, when looking online it seems 6.0 is normal?

Thank you in advance

  • Hello Princessof83

I'm sorry to hear that your son has had some health issues recently. It's understandable that you're feeling concerned and as you've discovered searching Google often doesn't give you answers but will lead to you feeling more anxious about things.

I'd suggest getting back in touch with the GP and explaining your concerns. I'm sure that they will be able to give you some reassurance about the results and the explain the differences in the repeat tests that they've requested.

I do hope that you have some positive news soon.

    Best wishes,
