I’m worried - abdominal pains, bleeding after sex, discharge

I'm 16 and have been having pretty extreme abdominal pains for over half a year now. I have bleeding after sex and a considerable amount of pain too. I've been getting lots of unusual and thick discharge. I got passed from pillar to post and after around twenty appointments I finally got seen by a gynaecologist. I had an examination and she thinks that it is a cervical ectropian. Even when she did the examination, she had to actually scrape the discharge out of my vagina to even be able to properly examine my vagina. It was extremely painful during the examination and I had been in a lot of pain down there before during and after this. I couldn't sit down on some days and couldn't dress myself or move properly. It's been three weeks since my examination and I was told I'd get an appointment for a Coloscopy. I'm extremely worried as the pains and discharge has only gotten worse. Should I be worried or not?

  • Hello Destinystar25 and welcome to our forum!

Poor you this sounds really uncomfortable and it sounds like you had a really painful examination. I hope you won't have to wait too long to get that important colposcopy appointment. You can find out more about the colposcopy on this page. I thought I would also mention [@xotimexo]‍'s thread which you can find here and who seems to find herself in a similar position, having been told she has a suspected ectropion and also waiting to have a colposcopy. So feel free to respond to her thread if you wish and I hope you will hear from others who find themselves in a similar place.

It might be worth giving the hospital a call and seeing whether they have a rough estimate as to when your appointment would be and if they know when you might get the letter. If the pain and discharge are a lot worse, don't hesitate to get in touch with your GP and explain as well that you have been waiting for 3 weeks with no sign of an appointment yet.

I hope you find out more very soon and that you won't have to wait long to be seen by a specialist.

    Best wishes,
