Bowel cancer

Hi I've just joined but not for myself.

Recently one of my family members has been having some symptoms of cancer. I phoned the gp and they got them in for blood tests, urine sample and a CT scan. We were told we would hear back within 2 weeks, we didnt. Anyway we got a text from the hospital saying we had an appointment in around 2 weeks time it would be a telephone consultation from the colectrol surgeon and that they needed a list of all medications that they were on. My question is why were the results not sent back to the gp? Does that mean that they have found something? Why would the surgeon need a list of medications? I am just asking for any of your experiences of being diagnosed. Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope anyone who does have cancer beats it. Thank you.

  • Hi Becca and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

Unfortunately no-one here can really answer these questions but your family member's GP may be able to help so if they haven't done so already, it would be best for them to get in touch with their doctor to find out more.

I hope you're all able to get some answers soon and that your family member's telephone consultation with the colorectal surgeon goes well in two weeks time.

    All the best,
