Ca-125 results

Hi everyone, I've been having horrible symptoms a while now and went to the doctors separately for them. My doctor put two and two together and says I had all the symptoms of ovarian cancer. I had an ultrasound and all was clear but then got a phone call last night saying my CA-125 blood test was high so I have to go and have a camera to check what's going on (I didn't listen much at this point as I genuinly thought theyd say the results were fine) I have spina bifida, kidney and bladder problems anyway so didn't seem to worry much.

I called today to ask what my level was, she said 75. Is this really bad? I read that over 35 is high. I'm real nervous. I'm praying it's fibroids or endometriosis, which is still a bit scary but nothing like cancer scary.

I don't think I would be as worried but my grandma, grandad, nana, dad, uncle and brother have all had/died of cancer. My brother was only 37 when he died.

  • Welcome to the forum Anonymous23 although I'm sorry for the reason you're joining us.

As you can see here, a raised ca-125 level does not necessarily mean you have cancer, as it can also be caused by the other conditions mentioned in your post.

I hope this helps to ease your mind but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses then you're welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Wishing you all the best with your upcoming camera check.

    Kind regards,
