Waiting on referral appointment

Hi,

So it started when I found a small hard lump in my groin, I saw the GP and he said to wait as it will probably go away on its own. Since then three more have popped up, two on each side.

After telling him this, I have been referred to the cancer clinic. In searching for lumps I have found one that is bean size under the corner of my jaw so I'm now very worried. The lump under my jaw is very tender and since finding it, I am very aware of it being there. I have always had lots of lumps on my arms and legs but thought nothing of it.

Right now I feel fine, no symptoms other than the lump under my neck and the ones in my groin with no obvious explanation as to why the are there. I have been feeling hot but my temperature is usually between 37-37.5 so not a fever but unusual for me.

Does anyone know how the hospital are likely to handle this? Will they want to scan me and the a biopsy of they find anything? And has anyone else experienced similar symptoms?

  • Hi Dward and welcome to the forum.

Hopefully some of our members who have been referred for lumps on/in the groin will let you know what tests were carried out soon but in the meantime I just wanted to wish you good luck and let you know we're thinking of you.

Fingers crossed the results show they are no cause for concern and the jaw lump goes down soon.

    Kind regards,

  • My husband is 36 and otherwise fit and healthy,

we have found lumps in his neck, groin, armpit, we have today been for a blood test and chest x-ray. His doctor told him it's a 50% chance he had Hodgkins or Lukemia as his grandad had Lukemia and his mum died of breast cancer. We are very worried and trying to get an ultrasound booked in ASAP. We are going to call the doctor tomorrow morning for the results of the chest x-ray but I know it won't be a diagnosis. I feel terrible as knew he had a lump in his neck a few months ago and didn't think much of it, it's only now the limp in his groin came up two weeks ago and I've had a look and realised he's been itching. I am trying to prepare myself and him for what might be, I hope his age will mean we have a good chance at a full recovery. He's been training loads in lockdown and he's never been so fit and muscley so it really is hard to believe it might be something as he doesn't look sick at all.
