ENT appointment

Hi, a few days ago I posted here about worrying if I had lymphoma or not. I received my appointment letter to go and see the ENT and I was just wondering what to expect next Tuesday? Like what procedures will be done, what questions may the doctor ask? As a briefing, I'm worried I have hodgkins/non-hodgkins lymphoma or even leukaemia but mostly about the hodgkins/non hodgkins. I'm 19 years old and I've had a lump on my left side of my neck just below my hair line at the side/back since about February time (well that's when I noticed it.) I brushed it off as I thought it would go away but then it became more noticeable. Another one appeared and I kind of got a bit more concerned and after a few months of thinking about it I decided to go to the doctors (about 4 weeks ago) he sent me for bloods (clear) ultrasound (enlarged spleen and obviously the enlarged lymph nodes (only 0.8cm but because of my night sweats my doctor is pushing for a biopsy) on now both sides of my neck) and a chest X-ray (clear) the doctor sent me for a referral to the ENT which I'm visiting next Tuesday and again was just wondering what to expect. If anyone has been in the same boat or is currently experiencing this, please share your stories of what happened, what the outcome was or is and the treatments... I still can't stop thinking about it. My nanny was diagnosed with lung cancer 4 weeks ago as well, and we found out last week that she is now dying and only has a few more days to live.  There's lots more stuff going on that's personal but I would really like to just hear what others have to say, thank you in advance.

  • Hi there,

I'm sorry to read about your worries and I hope it's not too long to wait to get some answers. Try not to get ahead of yourself or assume worst case scenarios, though I know the uncertainty is difficult. I'm also sorry to hear about your nanny - it sounds like you have a lot going on at the moment.

There is another thread on this forum here which you may find helpful as it gives some information about what to expect at your appointment.

Some people say it helps to keep busy and distracted while waiting for your appointment, to help keep your mind off things.

    Wishing you all the best,
