Lumps in my thyroid

So I have never  done this before... but I'm so worried tonight. I recently (5weeks ago) noticed small lumps on my thyroid one on the left side and one on the right side.
So today I went to see my GP. She had a feel around and agreed she felt something aswell. She's booked me an appointment for the hospital where she mentioned having an ultrasound. She sounded quite positive and even said she think it could be cysts. However I'm terrified.
I have a young daughter who lost her dad suddenly a few months ago it came as a shock to us all..he was here 1 minute gone the next. I'm so worried. To top it of about an hour ago i found a hard lump in the top of my arm. My anxiety is going through the roof. I can't stop crying. I don't want my little girl to grow up without both parents. xx

  • Hi,

Im so sorry about what you're going through right now it can be really scary.

I know how you feel with the tests and everything feels so strange. But remember that 9 of 10 people that get put forward for further tests, don't get diagnosed with cancer. Also if she thinks its cysts thats a great sign! suspicious lumps can be very distinctive and your hospital appointment will for sure ease your anxiety.

It's hard to stay off google but try as much as you can. And please remember these things are very treatable even if they do turn out to be sinister.

There's sooo many reasons for lumps on the neck so try to stay calm,

I wish you the best <3

  • Thank you for replying....

I really am trying to stay positive and not get myself worked up over it.
i have read it can be quite treatable so I'm getting comfort in that right now. I really appreciate you taking the time out to reply. Xx

  • Of course it can be really scary, I'm going through the same thing at the minute with lumps on my neck,

But yes it's definitely very very treatable even at later stages, I really hope it turns out to just be cysts or reactive lymph notes and nothing serious

If you need to talk to anyone don't hesitate :) xx

  • I'm sorry to hear your going through the same.
They say that neck is the most common place to get loads of lumps and bumps are they are always more likely to be nothing serious. However I know no matter what it's human nature to think the worst.
It's so tempting to google anything and everything however most of the time it just makes you more paranoid. I hope you get the correct answers from your doctor you want. I'm always here if you need a chat.
