Worried about symptoms.

Hello, Just really asking for others opinions on this. I'm 37 years old, for the past 12 months I've been going to my GP over concerns around bloating and bowel habits. Bloating is persistent and doesn't seem to trigger by any specific foods. I have given a stool sample and all blood tests have come back negative. It's just been put down to IBS. Recently I've encountered bad indigestion, feels like when I swallow I have something stuck in my throat. I will usually go to the toilet once a day in the morning after a hot drink but for the past year my stools have just been loose. I've had around 5 visits to the GP do I just assume I've got IBS or push it further as I feel like I'm inconveniencing them but it's stressing me out thinking I may have bowel cancer. Thanks

  • Hi,

I just wanted to let you know although we cannot say anything for sure IBS is really common and can cause some horrible symptoms like the ones you've been having,

What i will say is that if you are worried about the possiblity of bowel cancer definitely don't be scared to raise it with your gp as your main concern, they might be able to put your concerns to rest. Theres a whole number of things it could be that arent cancer, but don't feel like your wasting the GP's time you're there for a reason!

    All the best
