Worried sick

I found a dent on top of my left breast about 6wks ago went to the Drs who said to just to keep an eye on it last week i noticed another under the same breast so i went back

This time she has referred me to have an ultra sound which is in 2 wks time

Not sure what to expect i think im worrying about nothing but my close friend has just been diagnosed with breast cancer so its in the back of my mind

  • Being worries is only natural and understandably especially with your friend.  Nothing anyone can do or say will help I dont think. You need to know, which isn't a quick process stage best of times - probably be worse just now

I've personally been waiting nearly 4 weeks for results.

  • Hi,

I am exactly the same. About 2 weeks ago I got out of the shower and in the mirror I noticed 2 horizontal indentations on my breast 1 above the other about 2cm long. I immediately wet to the docs who reffered me to breast clinic. They rang the next day with an app 4th of Nov which I though omg very quick. Of course I googled it and have thought the worst. I am worried sick and constantly crying.

My mam had bc when she was 43 I'm 42 and now thinking that's it.

I'm so scared I can't eat or function. Wish you could upload pics on here to show ppl

  • Its the unknown isnt it? And ofcourse Google makes it worse hope all is ok with you xx

    Hi Michellelouise, Julia_mack and Tracey,

I am so sorry to hear that you are all waiting on results. This is always a stressfull time. Fear of the unknown is a horrible emotion to deal with and, for some strange reason, we always seem to think the worst. Fortunately, this seldom turns out to be the case. Out of every 8 people referred to the breast clinic only 1 will recieve a cancer diagnosis.

Please try and steer clear of Dr Google. He will have you dead and buried with a sore finger. Crying is a good release valve for all that pent up emotion, so don't worry about it. It becomes easier to deal with your situation once you know what you are dealing with, irrespective of the outcome. It normally only takes 1-2 weeks to get the results of the tests carried out at your first appointment.

Julia-mack. Four weeks seems like a long time to have to wait. Did your consultant say when you are likely to get them? If not, why not phone his/her secretary and see if they are back yet?

I have been in your position a few times, so know only too well just how scary it is. We are all here for you.  I am still here 11 years on and living a busy life, so don't give up hope.

Please let us know how you all get on. I hope that it'll be good news.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
