Breast lump and pain

Hi,

I found a lump in my breast a couple of months ago.  GP said nothing to worry about.

few months later still here and breast is sore, burning feeling.   Insisted on referral and appointment in a week.

under my arm Is tender, and may feel swollen (can't tell if it is or if that's my Mind playing tricks) and neck is kinda aching today.

could all be totally unrelated but I'm going to drive myself crazy.  I know I can't do anything until the appointment but anxiety through the roof.

anyone had similar symptoms?

thanks

  • Hi Anxiously-waiting,

Your reaction is perfectly normal. Unfortunately, our minds start racing ahead of us when we know the possibilities that can arise from such an appointment. Try to take hold of two facts about breast cancer. 1) It is seldom accompanied by pain. 2) Only one person in every 8 referred to the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis. Many of us are aware of additional aches and pains whilst we are waiting for results, but these are often attributed to anxiety.

I am glad to hear that you only have one week to wait for an appointment. Try to keep yourself as busy as possible to help pass the time whilst you are waiting.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
