Ovarian Growth

Hi

Feel like a complete fake writing this after reading all these post but here goes. I have had bowel problems, bloating , aches etc and finally had an ultrasound on my stomach and "bits". The next morning I got a call from the docs to say that there was some sort of a cyst the size of a golf ball on one of my ovaries. He can't tell too much as it's unclear but that he had already referred me to a gynaecologist, the nurse rang even as I was on the phone to the docs to arrange a blood test ASAP, the day after.
now it's a waiting game, my mind is whirring, I am over 50 and in menopause. Hubby isn't sleeping and I'm trying to stay all positive. I know I am over reacting but....

  • Just waiting for the days to tick off operation 23rd Nov

    pre op 17th

  • Will be holding thumbs for you!

    xx

  • I don't think you are a fake at all. It's hard when they find something one has no idea what it might be. Sometimes I think they shouldn't say a word until they know what it is.

At 44 I'm not quite pre-menopause and I went off to see the gynae a week ago and ended up with an ultrasound (so far so good, no worries I have had ovarian cysts on and off for years - but the pain at the moment was more than usual - needed painkilers and hot water bottles all the time) - blood tests check, ultrasound - erm... 2cm mass with own blood supply on ovary (on the side that doesn't hurt like hades?!?) now been told an MRI will be the next step. It's been three days since I had the US, but feels like weeks. And of course a weekend doesn't help much, except that I have a bit more patience as I don't expect the doc to work the weekend lol!

Hubby rightly says take what you know and let that be. Don't extrapolate, worry, google etc... I know he is making perfectly logical sense, but as I said to him, "It's not in YOUR abdomen!".

I went for a walk, railed at the moon and came back determined to make the most of every minute of every day even if it's not something serious in the end. Using it as a 'hint' to live more!

Know that there are others of us worrying in the same boat. I wish women had little portholes that you could open and shut and easily see what the problem is..

Have to say it's helped me to know there are others out there at the same point in time as I am and I'm not the only one.

Sending hugs to all of you xx

  • Almata I dont know if i am on the right page or anything  I just joined about an hour ago but seen your post and thought i would ask yu  I have to go to my doc in the am as my white blood cells are elevated and he suspects blood cancer  This is OUT OF THE BLUE and to say i am stunned is an understatment - i am blown away!!!! He suspects a condition called CLL (leukemia) basically but its not sure  I am coping very badly- i have cried non stop since yesterday and am driving my husband crazy but i am terrified  Are u the same?  mosey

  • I also had am MRI after mass found on my ovary.

    i had Ct Scan too.

neither showed it was. Hence now hysterectomy booked for Monday ‍♀️

  • The day will soon be here.

Hope the waiting has not been too bad and surgery goes well.

    Take care stay positive.

  • So pleased to hear that people are still getting operations and treatment they need. It might be just me but I am getting a little anxious as the covid in patients rise to what operations will take place. This might just be a local thing as well.

I've had a bit of a rollercoaster since October and my diagnosis has taken a little bit longer than necessary.

I've really struggled with MRI and just had a CT scan the lowest point was being told that my blood test was lost and had been destroyed. Back to the consultant for next week.

I'm also confused about the different types of hysterectomy and what I will need. Doing my appointments on the phone is good but also makes me feel slightly anxious.

Hope everyone is doing ok and I continue to positive at this time

  • Hope the operation has gone well and you are beginning to recover in these early days post surgery.

  • I have my operation booked for the 13th of January its a bit of a wait!

However, my blood test cancer markers came back in normal range apart for my CA125 which was slightly raised. They are going to test my lump while I'm being operated on and do what is needed then.

Like so many others it's the not knowing and uncertainties that cause the most anxiety!

I have some positive friends that keep me going which is great.

I have my pre-op on the 14th of December.

    Take care everyone

  • Operation done. Very grim whole thing.

three weeks to wait for results on ovary now
