Ultrasound scan

Hi

I have been having problems for the past 2 months! Severe bloating, back pain, tiredness, and no appetite. My doctor recently send me for a pelvic ultrasound that was at my own GP but on the day was not told to drink water to fill my bladder. Is this normal sometimes for a pelvic ultrasound? When I have had this done in the past I have always had to have a full bladder. I just feel like the scan was rushed and not done properly. The same person that did my scan missed problems with my nana! She had thickening of the lining of her womb and a mass that was later found at a hospital ultrasound 2 weeks later.

thanks Jenny

  • Hello Jenny1986

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some health concerns recently. I can't comment on the point you raise about not being asked to drink water as protocols will vary depending on what examinations were requested.

If you're unhappy with the examination and you're still feeling concerned about your symptoms then do get back in touch with your GP surgery and ask for an appointment with another Dr for a second opinion.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
