So a quick bit of background from me. Approx 7 weeks ago started with a sore throat and hoarseness went to the GP a few times tried 2 different courses of antibiotics plus reflux medicene and nothing worked. She finally referred me to the ENT specialist with an urgent referral as losing weight and no sign of improvement.
I had this phone appointment and he was great sent me for bloods (to rule out infection) and the urgent US on my neck to check out lymphoma and thyroid cancers. I've now had them all with the US being this morning and got the all-clear from the radiologist which was great and said he will send back to the ENT.
My question is how long do I wait to get in touch with the hospital about my in-person appointment? I am still experiencing pain, hoarseness etc and if you look at my throat you can see a lump on one side where my tonsils used to be. I'm just concerned that there is something else going on that wouldn't have been picked up on the US and I am really getting worn down. The ENT has been great with getting me seen but just worried that the physical appointment hasn't come through. List of symptoms below. I know you cannot diagnose on here but any help or guidance on next steps would be appreciated or if you've had a similiar experience and what your diagnosis ended up being.
1. Sore throat
2. Painful glands/neck
3. Hoarseness
4. Painful to swollow
5. Feel like there is a lump constantly in my throat (this stops me from sleeping as it's just there 24/7)
6. Swollen throat - red and inflamed with a white/yellow lump on the right side where tonsil used to be (had them out approx 18 months ago)
7. Loss of appetite and weight loss
8. Fatigue
9. Ear and jaw pain
Sorry for the long post but I am just at my wits end and really feeling down with it all now. I usually talk to my mum but I'm trying not to go on about it so much as she is stuck in another country and she is an ex-nurse so I know she thinks on another level about these things.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Gx
