Worried about x-ray tomorrow

Hey all my name is Sarah and I am 19 years old

I have my X-ray today/tomorrow it's 12am so it would class as today. I've been having constant pain in my leg since febuary, I suffer from sevear health anxiety, and these last couple of months have been awful. The pain is dull, it's in my knee and radiates down my shin into my foot I also feel It down the back of my leg. I am so so worried that this scan is going to show bone cancer it's been 9 months and I'm scared it's spread and I'm going to die I'm so worried I can't stop crying, k haven't eaten properly from all the anxiety and I just feel so drained from all the stress and anxiety. I'm so scared

  • Hi Sarah,

I just noticed you had your x-ray yesterday so I just wanted to check you're o.k and see how you got on.

I hope you're feeling a bit less stressed and a tad calmer now you've had it done but if you feel your health anxiety is getting the better of you at the moment do be sure to let your GP know so they can help. You may find Anxiety UK a helpful and supportive resource at this time as well.

We'll have our fingers crossed for good results Sarah.

    All the best,

  • Hey there I went for the X-ray on Monday morning I arrived there early at 8AM, the scan was quick and easy. 2 days have passed and I've heard nothing, surely if the results were concerning I would've heard by now? I can't stop worrying about the results :(

  • Various factors can affect how long it takes for results to come through whether they're good or bad but if you're worried it may be worth trying to get in touch with the department that carried out your x-ray as they'll be in the best position to let you know how long it'll take. Your GP may be able to chase this up for you as well.

Waiting for results is always tough but hopefully this information will help you through this anxious time.

    All the best,

  • Hi there, I had the x-ray done and the results were all normal. Thank you for responding to my post, however I do still have the leg pain so I will be going back to my GP as it could be a muscular or nerve problem. I still can't help but worry it's something bad :(
