Fast growing lump and bad Kidneys

Throughout lockdown I had head to toe itchy skin, it was unbearable, I rang the doctors countless number of times but they just kept giving me painkillers - eventually after 6 months they sent me for a blood test and it turned out even though I'm only 25 my kidneys were functioning as if I am 50.

since finding that out I've been waiting for an ultrasound to find out the reason which I finally have next week,

hlwever as that was going  on I found a small red lump on my leg, I took a picture of it mid September and since then it has tripled in size. The skin is red, the lump is hard, growing, I can't move it and it doesn't hurt to touch.

I did see a doctor but I'm now waiting for an ultrasound on that and the longer I wait the worse my anxiety about it gets. I'm wondering about paying for a private doctor in the hopes this speeds up process because google is terrifying me!

has anyone else found a growing red lump under the skin before? It turns the skin around it red.

  • Welcome to the forum Copelannd although I'm sorry to read what's going on.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will offer their support and advice to you soon but in the meantime do try and stay away from google as it has a tendency to increase, rather than decrease, anxiety in these situations.

I'm not sure if you've come across this already but you may find the tips provided on the NHS Every Mind Matters website rather useful for managing your anxiety whilst waiting for your tests and results.

I hope this helps and good news comes your way.

    All the best,
