Awaiting appointment with breast clinic

Hi,

So yesterday I noticed a red, tender lump on left breast. I phoned for a GP telephone appointment but ended up receiving a call back this morning. GP asked me to go into surgery for a physical check where he told me the lump was still there (but noted that I felt it was less swollen than yesterday) and that lymph nodes under both armpits are swollen. He repeatedly told me he thought it was an infection in the breast but has referred me to the breast clinic at local hospital just to be sure. Despite him constantly reassuring me it was just to be sure I can't help feel concerned as my grandmother died of breast cancer 10 years ago and I am trying my best not to dwell on this too much. Any advice to cope till my appointment is appreciated. TIA x

  • I also saw the doctor yesterday and have a small lump above where the underwire of a bra is.

He suspects it is nothing because it moves and said with any lump they have to refer. I have similar lumps in my right breast by my arm and was referred in Feb for those and they were nothing. I know it's hard, and I'm going crazy with worry too but keep busy and if they were very very worried they would see you straight away.

I hAve just spoken to the doctor again because I was worried about redness. The doc said if the doctor who had checked me noticed it it would absolutely be on there. She said the fact it isn't means he didn't have any concern.

Keep going and I am always here xxx

  • Thank you for your kind words. I am very worried as I've never found a lump before and tbh was hoping to get some antibiotics and leave.

I hope you receive good news regarding your investigations. Stay strong xxx
