Waiting for a diagnosis

Hi all.

My last post seems to have gone!

I'm waiting on a diagnosis from a 2nd biopsy due to a chest rash that has grown over the years.

Despite loads of different creams including steroid creams, the rash is still there. Sore, burning/ stinging sensation. Growing still.

My first visit to the skin clinic was last November 2019, freezing treatment, rash shrank, then February this year 2020 a biopsy, they found nothing, then patch grew back, more sore and aggressive, so had another biopsy. If its nothing, why is it coming back ,waiting on results.

Regards to all x

  • Hello AngPat

Hopefully once the results of this biopsy come back the Consultant will have some firmer answers about what is going on for you and what the best way forward is with treatment/management.

If you'd like to chat to one of our nurses about your concerns then you're welcome to call them. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you have some news soon.

  • Thank you Jenn

To be honest , it is frustrating. I hope they have some answers this time.

Previously ,on first visit to skin clinic, two doctors were sure it was Bowens. They treated it by  cryptherapy, think I spelt that wrong, but the lesion shrank, it was when they continued with a biopsy 3 months later that the " rash" came back ,more painful than before. So awaiting results now, after 2nd biopsy. I don't think it is serious but I do think it isn't just an allergy or dermatitis, as it is concentrated on two areas now.

  • I think my biopsy results are back. Quite quick since the biopsy was only last Tuesday 13 Oct.

My GP texted to tell me to make a telephone appointment to discuss this.

Another lesion has sprung up since the biopsy. So, unsure until I hear what the results are. Hope everyone is OK, deep breaths .

    Hi AngPat,

I hope that you get some answers this time. Have you written down any questions you may have for the doctor? It is always a good idea to do this, as it is all too easy to forget something important with the stress of a consultation.

Do please let us know how you get on.
    kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine

Thank you for your support. x

You're perfectly right, I'll put some questions down on paper for the doctor.

    I hope you're OK yourself?

Will let you know what happens

  • Hi, my biopsy results found abnormal cancer cells, they're saying its Bowen's disease.

My doctor sounded annoyed that the hospital didn't book me a follow up appointment, or let me know directly , so urged me to ring the his for a booking soon.

To be honest I knew it wasn't just any old rash, not saying any old rash is nothing, but worried because it has become quite aggressive, has it gone beyond skin.

    We shall see.

Love to all, deep breaths x

    Hi AngPat,

I'm sure that this wasn't what you wanted to hear, but  at least you know the cause and can try to do something about it. I always go to every appointment armed with a list of questions, as it is all too easy to forget something important when you are at an consultation.

I look forward to hearing how you get on.
    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
