Waiting for a hysteroscopy, has anyone else had this?

Hi I have a polyp in my womb it's about the size of a pea, I'm waiting to have a hysteroscopy I've experience pain and bleeding during intercourse and spot between periods.I find myself going to the toilet a lot and have really bad pains in my legs. Has anyone else experience this and should I be worried

  • Hi

I am new to this forum but have come in looking for support. I have a hysteroscopy booked for 20th October after an internal ultrasound showed a 6mm shadow in my womb. I too have had bleeding and a dull, burning pelvic/abdominal/lower back pain and leg pain in my right hand side after intercourse and exercise. The bleeding stopped about 6 weeks ago but was on and off for about 4 months (I'm on the contraceptive implant which stopped my periods 10 years ago so bleeding was strange but I put it down to my implant having a wobble). I still get the pains however although I'm so used to them now sometimes I forget they are there! I am trying not to worry but it is scary! When is your hysteroscopy?

  • I had the same symptons you girls are having, started at 44 (now 50)

I had a hysteroscopy at Vanderbilt back in 2015 - it is not as awful as you think. The worst part was the needle to numb the cervix. I had tons of bleeding issues, a nightmare, pain, horrific hemorraghic bleeding (to the point it expelled the IUD). Took the 3 years to figure it out and I found the problem MYSELF by searching and reading articles with similar symptoms.

I now take 200mg of progesterone (NOT PROGESTIN) encapsulated in peanut oil (ViRTUS BRAND) and have been recovering and trying to get back to life again. BTW= I failed 3 other brands and the progestin, apparently it the peanut oil keeps the meds intact till it gets to the intestine.

They told me all kind of things - complete and utter incompentance at so many levels. Told me I had a polyp, I knew I didn't, told me had fibroids, I don't, told me I had endo, I don't... all these tests and simply, I was getting low on progesterone. But, finally when she put in another IUD (and I said, shouldn't we do the sono first to be sure, she told me in 10 years never had a problem....yep, I was her first "problen"...had to take it back out and had zero plan for future other than wanting to do "Explatory surgery" on me.  I ran out of there....RAN OUT OF THERE...got a 5th opion, did hysto and have all normal everything....simply hormones out of what - suffered for 3 YEARS before i got help and still not back to normal yet. BLEH.

I just had a recent Trans Vag because new doc thought uterus enlarged (I have adenomysosis) and then a follow up 6 weeks after that due to them finding a cyst on ovary.

The hysto will help you figure out what is going on and take the correct path, I wish I would have had that first before all the other crap and meds. They gave me so many meds my heart was beating 150 BPM, told me I had sinus tach, ended up with high BP due to the meds ...THEN Told me I had health anxiety!! HOW COULD I NOT!

    Good luck to you all!!!

  • I haven't yet received an appointment for it, I hope your appointment goes well for you
