Colonoscopy results

Hi all,
I recently had a colonoscopy done as I was referred by the doctor for change in bowel movements and some blood in the stool.I am 23 years of age & vegetarian I got a blood test carried out by the doctor to see if I was lacking in anything that could be causing my bowel movements to be different. When going to the doctor I had been like this for about a year.

I got the colonoscopy done a week ago and I am still awaiting the results as there were two pollups removed on my left side and I have to go again in 12 weeks as my right side was still blocked. I was surprised but very nervous about getting my results.

after having the pollups removed I felt extremely tender on my stomach for 3 days after and it seemed to go away by I still have the issues I had previously to having the procedure done. I am just wondering if it is normal to get pollups this young and to feel extremely tender / almost bruised on the inside of my stomach after. Also I was wondering if I have to go back to get checked more regularly now after finding pollups? The doctor didn't really give much info at all, and because I was sedated for the procedure I can't remember everything that was said.

I am usually one of these people that try putting things off to see if they go away but i felt like it was constantly on my mind and not improving.

  • Hi Sarah1233,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about the difficulties you've been experiencing. Your last question is probably best answered by the doctor when you speak to them about your results. You could also speak to them about the first two questions - unfortunately I'm not able to advise on these - or if you'd like to speak to someone before that, our nurses may be able to help. If you'd like to talk anything through with them, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
