What happens now

I was out on a 2 ww 4 weeks ago because of a large lump in my neck which the ENT consultant said was my submandibular gland , he arranged for needle biopsy and to see him the week after to discuss.

i had the scan a week after and the radiologist said she could not see the lump on the scan but she could see my submandibular gland and this was normal size and not blocked .
min the meantime I've had a call from my gynaecologist to say they need to get me in to do biopsies ASAP due to a thickened endometrium and the scan was from Jan but she cannot list me until the lump in my neck is thoroughly investigated .

so I rang the head & neck dept to advise I need to know what happens next as it's holding up other issues   Including much needed therapy for a herniated disc in my neck pressing on the nerves in my spine .

the dept have said they have no appointments and have told me for the last 2 weeks they would print my scan off & give it the doctor .

this lump is around 3-4 cm big and I have nightly sweats , severe back & hip pain , face and jaw pain and a pain in my left rib cage .

i have severe fatigue and have vertigo and nausea almost daily .

this has been going on around 6-8 months now and it was only when the lump appeared in my neck and didn't go I called the doc .

did anyone else go to have a biopsy but something else was done instead ? I'm desperate for them to tell me what's happening as I'm in so much pain from other things .

Feels like my life is on hold and all I get from the secretary is he is really busy , he's had my results for 2 weeks now and not looked at them .

  • Hi Raggydoll79,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. This sounds like an incredibly frustrating and difficult situation. The only thing I can really suggest is to keep calling and explaining your situation, that you're waiting on other issues which can't be sorted until you get the answers you need. Or you could go back to your GP and see if they can do anything to help move things forward more quickly.

If you'd like to talk anything through with our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

Wishing you all the best and I hope this gets sorted soon,

  • Hi Ben,

Thank you for your reply, i did speak to my GP and he agreed the investigations carried out were not sufficient so i was advised to ring the consultants secretary.

I did this and was advised i would be attending clinic at the end of the month , but then i got a phone call the day after to say i have an appt today .

hopefully i will get some kind of answer today and can move forward.

    I will keep you updated.

    keep safe , stay happy.
