Initial appointment cancelled

Hi

I called my doctor on 28 Sept when I had seen a few tv adverts about changes and cancer as I had been worried about pain in my breast and underarm. Doctor was great and saw me face to face later that day. He told me he would be referring me to breast clinic and would receive an appointment for 2 weeks.

A couple of days later I received my appointment for 12 Oct, great.

I have just received a call to say a staff member is unwell and my appointment is cancelled. Not able to give me an  idea of when I will get one, just that I will receive a letter.

I am almost 43, and had 3 failed rounds of IVF with the highest dose drugs. I have read this can also be a factor in breast cancer.

I had been trying not to worry too much until I had been to clinic but now I have no idea when that will even be.

I know no one can give me answers, just wanted to let it out really. Thank you for listening.

  • Hi, I have just received a call to say my appointment has been cancelled too, my appointment was supposed to be at 7 tonight, I was getting ready to leave as they called to cancel. I am besides my self, I have been going out my mind with worry, I suffer massively with anxiety and I'm afraid this will tip me over the edge.

Really hope you get a new appointment through soon xx

  • Hi ladies,

I'm so sorry to hear that your appointments have been cancelled. The waiting really is the hardest part and to have the rug pulled from underneath you like that is truly awful. They don't cancel unless there's absolutely no other option and with covid there are so many people having to self isolate daily which is probably what's happening now.

They know that this will cause upset and anxiety and will contact you as soon as they can to give you another appointment.

In the meantime try and stay positive. Stay off the internet because you'll just think the worst and come on here and vent when you need to.

    Stay strong. Take care.

    Barb xx
