Feeling particularly unwell

Hi, Any advice would be much appreciated. I am currently very unwell and waiting on test results and more tests next week on my bladder and kidneys. It's a long story but currently in a situation where I'm considering going directly to A and E. my symptoms seem to progressing quite rapidly and am concerned that next week may be too long to wait for results even though it's all being done within less than the guidelines of 2 weeks. Passing a lotbb b of blood in urine which doctor is aware of but I'm suddenly very swollen up in my upper body with water retention. Do I wait it out and just hope for the best? Call my GP? Or go to A and E and risk getting lost in a currently very busy system with the added risk of coronavirus? If anybody can relate to my issues and offer advice I'd be grateful. Many thanks.

  • Hi Lorraine,

Thank you for your reply, I have spoken with NHS advice line earlier and explained what's happening and been advised to contact my GP in the morning and have him assess me and if then he decides I need to go to hospital he would be able to arrange it himself rather than me hanging about in A and E waiting to be assessed, which makes perfect sense. They also advised that if I become more unwell or more concerned in the night, then I should go directly to A and E.

    Again, thank you.

    Best Regards, Karen
