Worried

Hi all

i have been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst bsck in 2017 was assured it would go away on its own but to have regular scans to monitor. Throughout the years it's grown to about 6x6x5 cm. I had my last scan in March and then Covid hit. I had a call in July from consultant who said the cyst had now appeared to have septatations and with solid elements  with vascularity. Consultant advised we should remove couldn't rule out cancer but I have not had blood test since last year were ca125 was normal. I had preop on 14 September and I am waiting on a date was advised 6/8 weeks. I am so worried and anxious and everyone tells me not to worry but it's literally hell. I can't even watch the news as hearing about cancellations for surgeries just makes it worse.

  • Hello Hannah_86

I'm sorry to hear that you're waiting on surgery for an ovarian cyst at the moment. I think most of our members here will understand how difficult time period of waiting for answers can be. Add in to the situation the problems that Covid19 is causing with things and it's natural that you're feeling so anxious about things.

Although often easier said than done, try to take things a day at a time and not look too far ahead or watch/read the news. It will only increase your anxieties.
You might find it helpful to have a chat with one of our nurses. I'm sure they will be able to offer some support and reassurance ahead of your surgery. If you'd like to speak to them, they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you have a date soon and that things go smoothly.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
