Vagina lump?

Hey Ladies,

I have a question for you all, I'm almost 22 and I've been having irregular periods for around a year- completely regular before this. Always been very heavy passing clots, history of endometriosis on both sides of the family. Very painful sex and pain in between periods. Horrendous night sweats over the past few weeks too, waking up drenched. Pain in legs, back and hips/pelvis during period and sometimes between.

I rang my doctors again last week about my periods because I feel something isn't right at the moment. The doctor was fab and is bringing me in for a pelvic exam and ultrasound.

Out of curiosity I had a look at my vagina Infront of the mirror, it's not something I've ever done before so I don't know if what I'm looking at is normal or not?

TMI (I'm sorry!) but when I separate my lips at the enterance to my vagina I can see what looks like a lump or growth kinda thing. It's softish and kinda moves, to me it looks like a cervix? That's the only way I can think to describe it like the part the doctors see when they do a Pap smear?

ive been Googling way too much but I'm not really getting anywhere? I know I'm seeing my gp soon but I'm wondering if this is normal or not? Honestly I don't know if I'm being stupid and it's just part of the normal vagina but when I look at diagrams this 'lump' doesn't seem to be on them?

Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions for this? Thank you all in advance x

also pls tell me the pelvic exam isn't as scary as it sounds I'm terrified lol, obviously I have to go on my own for the exam and the ultrasound. I know pregnant woman have it WAY worse not being able to have their partners but im just scared of the unknown on my own haha

  • Hi, I am the same age as you and went through something similar 3 months ago. My periods are all over the place and I had a pelvic exam and ultrasound scan. I was nervous for both but I was out at ease the pelvic exam and swabs they took wasn't uncomfortable I didn't feel anything! The ultrasound scan was slightly uncomfortable as they had to do it internally but wasn't painful! They didn't find anything wrong with me but I found they don't really investigate further when you're young, as they say it's uncommon for us to get anything like that but if you don't feel right I would push for further tests! Hope everything goes well for you xx

  • Ah thanks so much!!

Yeah I've heard there isn't many options for our age but I'm grateful at least my doctor is listening and shes willing to do some tests as I know a lot of girls and women really struggle!

Glad to hear the exams weren't too awful haha, thanks again and I hope you can get some answers soonxx
