Breast Lumps and Pain

Hi,

So about 3/4 weeks ago I noticed my right boob felt quite sore so I had a feel and it felt different to how it had done a few months previously (I check every now and then) a bit thicker and lumpy. Anyways, I was on my period so thought it could be hormonal and didn't think much of it. 2 weeks ago my period ended and the pain has persisted and remained lumpy.
I spoke with my GP on Monday and she asked me to go in on Wednesday. I did went in she said she could unfortunately feel a few hard lumps  with defined edges and would refer me to the specialist on a 2 week wait. Got an appointment through the next day for the following Monday (today). Obviously really nervous and dreading what would happen. Went to the specialist this evening he felt my chest but only where the GP had noted and where I said I felt pain much less thorough than the GP who felt all over. He also identified another lump which I hadn't even felt or the GP hadn't told me.  He marked me up and sent me on for an ultrasound no other explanation. I then went to the ultrasound felt like I was swiped very quickly told it was normal and to leave no offer of explanation or to see the consultant again. I realise I should have insisted but I was on the brink of a panic attack and just wanted to leave. Since leaving the hospital I have lots of questions why am I in pain and what the hell are they. I am glad they're 'normal' but I'm still left with lots of unanswered questions. I have also just gone to have a shower and noticed where he'd marked and he hadn't marked where I was in pain or initially felt the lump (I didn't have chance to look in the hospital and didn't want to look down when I was having the ultrasound I know it was stupid of me I was just really nervous).
I just wondered if anyone could offer some advice. I do have private healthcare so wondered if it was worth seeking a second opinion through that? Or will my GP get a report and be able to explain what these lumps are?
Thanks in advance A x
