Hard lump on base of skull - referred for ultrasound

Hi all,

I posted last week I think about having a lump and all my symptoms that are coming with it.

Ive got a lump on what feels like my occipital lymph node right hand side about 1cm, I've got dizziness, headaches and forgetfulness. Along with joint aching.

My GP decided she needed to see me, so this evening she decided I needed an urgent ultrasound.

My blood work has come back normal which is great news and I've been alot calmer about it all.

But it's just sort of hit me now.

The doctor didn't know what it is and agreed it was hard and immobile.

One minute I'm okay and the next my head is panicking. I'm sure everything will be okay but I can't think straight.

Just needed somewhere to get it out and talk about it all.

  • That's great the blood test results came back clear Dropjupiter although I'm sorry that still leaves you with the uncertainity of not knowing what this is yet.

Waiting for tests (and the results) is always tough but hopefully the ultrasound will be able to provide some answers. I hope this information I've found about urgent referrals will help calm your mind slightly whilst you wait.

    All the best,

  • Hey

I have just read your post and sending you love

just wondering how you got on since ?

i have had a swollen lymph node at the back of my neck a bit below my hair line more to side, I noticed it around 4 weeks ago and went to the doctors around a week and half after noticing it as it was causing me a burning sensation which was traveling up my scull which felt on the lower scale of occipital neuralgia which i think it is that causes the worst burning painful sensation when neck is turned this has probably happened around 10 times in my whole life and whenever I explain it to anybody nobody has a clue, but the sensation I've been feeling from having this swollen lymph node is very similar but way less and more constant which lasted around 5-7 days

now I have a very sore neck which is also weird as it's sore when I tilt forward or backwards but there's like a constant aching feeling even when resting

I have noticed many different weird symptoms since June 2020 which is so unusual for me and non of them really make sense but everything I've had and gone to the doctors separately about are still happening and I can't help but add them all together.

i am now experiencing again sharpe dull chest pains near my heart that come and go all throughout the day, chest tightness ( I already have asthma but this feels very different) and also like a ball like feeling in my throat, plus joint pains along side the neck pain etc and missed periods and unusual blood like discharge outside of my periods

I've never suffered with anxiety but it's now over powering my life daily and I feel as though because I'm only 24 That I am not taken seriously at all but I feel as though being somebody that hasn't really had any health problems and would rarely ever be concerned or go to the doctors to now being the complete opposite makes me feel as though it is something serious which is so frustrating when I feel like I'm not really getting anywhere with it

i think I'm sending my boyfriend completely crazy with how much I go on about my recent health concerns but feel like I have no where else to really let out and seek any advance if anybody has suffered with anything similar or know anybody that may have experienced any if my symptoms & the outcome

wishing you all health and happiness for 2021

    ell :)

  • Hi, I hope you managed to get a diagnosis and all is okay ? I have the exact same symptoms! And just wondered if you'd been diagnosed and what it was ? My anxiety is through the roof at the minute

Hey, I was reading through your comment and you symptoms are pretty similar to what I was suffering with for year's except I started getting servear shortness of breath. And full on choking fits for over a minute at a time. Couldnt drink anything really cold, or I'd choke. My voice would go on me quite often and I would constantly have issues with swallowing and regurgitation.

A separate issue with my spine(degenerative disc disease). Helped find my answer. My back went on me and a random full blood count showed I had an extremely high amount of eosinophils in my blood. (White blood cells that fight allergic reactions, shows up with some cancers and other things, i crapped my pants when they told me that part). And my inflammation markers were up. After more tests I was sent to a hospital in London where I was diagnosed with servear eosinophilic asthma. Turns out the eosinophils where attacking my lungs and had started to attack my esophagus and epiglottis now I'm on biological treatment and I've never felt better.

I'm no doctor but maybe ask for a full blood count, pacificly for the white blood cells called eosinophils.

Good luck and I really hope this helps x

I was also told by doctors that I was too young to have two types of lung disease... it started roughly around the age of 25. I'm now 31
