Breast surgery letter?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help.

I had a biopsy taken on Tuesday to look for cancer. I received a letter today for an appointment with "breast surgery" next week.

I don't know if I'm looking into it, but would this be for surgery? I haven't received any results yet. But when I had my ultrasounds they did say that the "lump" I was feeling was changes in the breast tissue, and there was no cysts, fatty lumps etc. So they wanted to do the biopsy to check for cancer.

thank you

  • Hi there ...

I'd deff phone on Monday morning and ask for clear advice and to make things clear .. I'm not medically qualified,  but I've never known anyone have breast surgery without having everything explained ... but with everything going on, things could get a tad mixed messages ...

But please don't panic , it could just be more tests as sometimes results are sometimes borderline... either call your G P .. or if you have a phone number for the hospital team , give them a call ... Chrissie x

  • Thank you! I'm definitely going to be ringing on Monday! The consultant who did the biopsy said I would have an appointment for 2 weeks time to discuss the result, but when I went back to see the consultant who examined me first said she will call me with the results when she receives them.

If I'm honest the consultant who examined me was far from helpful, and when examining me said it would be a fatty lump but will do a scan to double check... when I asked what would happen if it's not a fatty lump she said "we will cross that bridge when it comes to it" I walked in the scan room expecting to be told everything was find and could come home.

However during the scan. The doctor said "we need to check for cancer, as the lump you can feel is in fact changed to the breast tissue, with no lump being visible." He also added some metal into my breast "incase of treatment".

I received a letter today, asking me to join in a video call on Friday with breast surgery.
