Callback for suspicious mole

I’m having a bit of a freak out. Doctors have called me and have said I need to come in on Friday regarding my mole they saw 3 months ago. The doctor saw it once face to face and again a month later in photos and said he wasn’t concerned but would speak to the dermatologist. The receptionist didn’t give anything away when I asked what had been discussed, just said that the doctor would talk me through it on Friday. When she was reading through the notes she mutter “start the process”. What process??? They need to give people with health anxiety more detail

why would they call me back again after not being seen for three months?

  • Hi,

I can only assume what may be happening due to these unusual times. It may be that the discussion the GP had with the dermatologist was delayed as everyone is catching up with the lockdown backlog. It may be that the GP will say that the dermatologist wants the GP to refer you to dermatology so they can take a proper look at your mole and decide if it needs removing, monitoring or that it looks fine. Although it sounds scary, this is the best 'process' to ensure it's dealt with properly and to give you peace of mind.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
