Day one - found lump, referred to breast clinic

This morning has been a roller coaster. Couple of days ago I found a lump.... was it real  ? Maybe not...maybe it wont be there tomorrow ( monday) crack on..keep your mind occupied..dont think about it. Monday...still there.... and now looking in the mirror theres a crease in the skin...ish... This isnt going to go away is it...  Tuesday...... right Stop being a coward..it might not be the big C.... but do you honestly think a) it's going to go away on it's own? b) you can carry on knowing it's there? ...

Wednesday: 9am emailed the surgery on their askmygp app.

Typed in " I've found a lump in my breast " ..cue tears...

Couple of hours pass while I try and concentrate on nothing much.

Call from clinician at the surgery..lots of questions about where it is, how big it is, does it move, is it attached, any redness, any discharge.

Referred to breast clinic. Usually two weeks but because of COVID...they are a bit behind ..could be 3 weeks.... . Be prepared they will probably do an ultra sound scan and a biopsy there and then.

Im not concerned about what they do ...liar... but the

.sooner the better. I just need to know what this is!! And hope it isnt what I think it is. No family history of BC..... everything crossed.

  • Hi,

I was in your shoes 2 weeks ago! When I went to clinic (last Wednesday) I had mammogram and ultrasound. Radiographer was not worried about the lump/ swelling that has sent me there but said he felt something else. So he decided to do a biopsy there and then. It was nowhere near as bad as I would have expected. Practically painless. He put in a tiny marker for future ref, took another mammogram to be certain it was in the right place and that was it. A bit sore and bruised after but totally manageable.

I got a call today from consultant to say it was benign and doesn't need any follow up. So there are positive stories- try not to worry too much! Fingers crossed for you. Waiting is hard. I have an MRI on 21st Oct on pancreas so scared stiff about that!- Another waiting game :(

I hope all works out well for you. Take care. x

  • Hi

Thank you for replying. You feel so alone. Only hubby and my sister know..had to tell someone. Trying not to think of how to tell the kids if it IS BC. You can see I'm galloping down the road of scenarios. Which is worse making mental lists just incase? Or not in the hope you wont have to? Moved things around in 2 bedrooms yesterday just to keep me busy. If it's a 3 week wait this will be the tidiest house in the countyFell apart half way through tea...no apparent reason..wasnt thinking about it at the time.

Lost my dad in July...this really easnt needed on top of all that.

  • So sorry ladies, I've just read all the past messages properly ️ I was at work and just skimmed over them, I was so shocked at all the messages.

I am sorry you ladies are all suffering this terrible journey after reading your comments I almost feel as if I can't contribute to your comments as I couldn't possibly understand what your going through.  The first 3 weeks was enough!

We are all strong women, we get back up when we're knocked down, nothing can keep us down! We don't give ourselves credit. You can do this!!

My lovely you are more than welcome to join this thread. Your worries arent frivolous at all. We've all had what we thought were over active imaginations and daft worries. Youd be surprised just how many turned out to be all the same. We are all at various stages on this journey. And having seen all the posts the timing seems to vary in length of time from seeing your GP to getting to see a specialist.

I am so grateful here in Lincolnshire that things are moving at a fair rate of knots. 6 weeks from finding the lump to getting it gone... not bad considering the current covid situation

That was another palace .... told at clinic last week to report to carpark this morning.  Told by phone call friday to be in the car park 10.30 sunday.

You guessed it. Got to the car park....I'm not on the list...... after they had double checked my details twice...asked me if I knew what procedure I was having.....was I having a general anaesthetic? Another phone call. Turns out cabin 1 was just doing covid swabs for out patients.  Cabin 2....all locked up was doing general anesthetics swabs.

So a lovely little nurse came out if the main building and swab done.  Never felt a thing. Let's just hope its negative.

Strange thing is...I now have to self isolate until surgery.....apart from my appt on Tuesday??

  • Hi again!

Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply! I’m in Wales-seems a long time till my appointment on 23rd but hoping things will move quickly whatever the outcome! Funny thing is the breast specialist I’m seeing is the same guy who sorted my breast abscess out 17 years ago! Lovely bloke!!

Hope your test is negative Whatnext and everything goes well with your surgery!! Xxx

  • I will be thinking of you on Tuesday and particularly Wednesday my lovely

Yes it seems different areas have different time scales. I was seen within 3 weeks from first seeing my doctor to my appointment at the breast clinic and had all relevant tests there and then

Good luck to all the ladies with upcoming appointments and results

    You got this!!

  • I'm right with you too, we both share similar type of cancer and treatment. I hope you feel strong, we are tough and we can deal with this. Sending so much love

  • WHAT?! You are kidding me?! Oh hun, that's terrible, how can they keep you waiting? I thought these operations were still going ahead. It's so not fair, you and your family must be frantic. Have they any idea when your likely to be rescheduled?

Yes at least get your toe sorted, that doesn't sound like it's going to heal by itself. Focus on that for now if you can

    Huge hugs xxxxxx

  • I kid you not

If its going to go wrong...then I'm in there somewhere.  ****** off doesnt come close. Had my mindset in the right place.  Now I have no idea where I am....back to being a blubbering mess .

Thanks to the inconsiderate ******! Who carried on regardless.

Its gonna have to be the A TEAM.....Mr T. Knock me out before I get to the hospital then wake me up after.

I've had it now....cant work my confidence back up. It's just hit rock bottom

  • Oh my dear lord how absolutely awful, what a blooming roller coaster and when you feel so ready to wave the bloody thing goodbye. I am so so sorry for you I do hope they come up with a date soon. Sending you love and hope and strength. Presently awaiting date for CT scan before my scheduled mastectomy on 25th November x x x x

  • Oh hun I'm so sorry. You try and keep your spirits up, easy for me to say, I know

Praying for you to get another date real soon. Don't they realise what this does to people??

    Xxxxxxxx

  • Best wishes to you ginger girl, fingers crossed yours goes ahead as scheduled

  • Has a government dept EVER thought about people?

To them you're a number on a spread sheet.

Had a lovely call from one of the breast care nurses this morning.

Made me feel better. So I sit tight...watch old B&W movies.  Might have to sink the Bismarck again...... or bounce the odd bomb across a dam wall.

My nurse says chill....so for once in my life I'm going to do as I'm told.

    Thanx Traciej

  • Bless you ginger girl

Sending love and big hugs for your OP too

  • I suppose their hands are tied.

The nurses are amazing and do a fantastic job. I'm glad she's managed to calm you somewhat and brought you onto a more even keel.

Get those films on, put feet up and chill you so deserve it.

Think of it this way...... Your fight will still be there tomorrow, there is nothing you can do about it today so forget about it for the rest of the day and relax. You can't spend every waking hour worrying, stressing and panicking otherwise your mental health will suffer too. this is what I say to myself everytime I find myself facing problems it helps me, maybe it will for you

    Always here xxxxx

  • Oh Whatnext I’ve only just seen your post...that’s just devestating for you! I was told by GP ‘don’t listen to social media -they have been continuing to treat people!’ Surely they can keep areas of the hospital seperate but I suppose realistically if they have staff off isolating etc then logistically must be difficult!

It sounds like you’ve retained your sense of humour anyway and being positive has to be the best way...and also to swear and scream occasionally!!

Talking Pictures is a good TV station for the old films!!!

     Heaps of love xxxxxx

  • It gets better......

My lovely breast care nurse told me to take time out this afternoon.

I have spent most of it arguing the toss with ASDA. Because of hospital appts I hadnt been on the site and had missed 3 emails telling me my delivery pass needed renewing.

After 3 hours on a chat box to a 12 year old who told me theres only one order ever been placed on my account...and no record of a delivery pass.( have ordered every week for the last 4 years )

God almighty!! So I sent the whole rigmarole as a press and media enquiry to ASDA head office.  And where it said " publication" I put " any MSM who would be interested in a lady waiting for breast cancer surgery who Asda are not willing to renew her delivery pass while she is isolating waiting for surgery. TOSSERS!!

Go on to the ASDA app tonight to add onto this weeks shop and it says xmas slots available........NO THEY ARE NOT. All gone.

So I shall do a midnight shop in tesco if needed. But F@#k em. I'm going local!!!!

    ARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH
