Duct removal

Hi everyone, I'm wondering what everyone's experience of duct removal went.

I had a bloody discharge from my nipple and following a consultation with the breast clinic they wanted to remove the ducts. I had the surgery two weeks ago and the surgeon said there was a lot of 'debris" in the ducts which has now been sent for analysis. I haven't yet had the results, I guess it's just a waiting game.

After surgery my breast was painful but bearable and for the first week I copied well, however last Thursday I developed horrendous shooting pains in my breast and there was hard lumps inside. The Dr said it could be an abscess and infection so gave me another course if antibiotics which I have been taking. I finish the course tomorrow but don't think they're working as the pain is still really bad and redness is now spreading across the breast. Does anyone know what the next steps would be?

  • Hello Mollytots,

Welcome to our forum! I am sorry to hear that the antibiotics don't seem to be working and that the pain is still intense and the redness is spreading across the breast. This is definitely something you need to mention to your doctor as soon as you can so do give your GP a call. I am sure they will be able to help you and advise you on what the next steps should be.

As you say regarding your results, it's now just a waiting game. And many on our forum will know only too well that this waiting game can be a rather anxious one. I hope you can manage to stay distracted and busy while waiting for these important results and resist the temptation to look anything up online as this will only make you worry more.

I hope that you manage to see someone soon about this pain and redness spreading across your breast and I am keeping everything crossed for you for good results.

    Best wishes,
