Hi 

 

I have got 2 possible Ca issues 

 

First is a polyp - although this has been put on urgent as opposed to 2 week wait so I am unsure if they suspect it is cancer or not - I think the standard wait was 50 weeks  - I have been waiting since June and my hysterscope is in October - trying not to worry too much about that one. 

 

The second is I have a strange red and purple area on my Uvula in the back of my throat - I have sore throat and enlarged lympth notes (both sides).  was seen urgently by a Oncologist for MaxFax and he said hes not too concerned about it, that it looks viral and he has a 'low threshold' for biopsying people  - said it looked viral BUT if it doesnt go in 4 weeks time it will need to be biopsied.  I am freaking out obviously and taking pics of it every day -  it seems to get worse not better, but then again, would cancer change THIS quickly (as in week to week??)

    Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about your worries although I know it's never easy when there is this uncertainty.

    It sounds like you have next steps for both of these, in that you are due to be seen again for the polyp and you have been asked to monitor the purple area and return if it doesn't go.

    Because of this I would suggest you try to keep your mind off things and keep yourself busy and distracted. Taking the photos isn't really necessary and will only be increasing your worry. Instead, maybe do a weekly check and then if after four weeks it's still there then you can see the doctor again.

    I know it's easier said than done but hopefully trying not to focus on it too much will help.
