Lymphoma-waiting for Lymph node biopsy

Hello everyone.

I was wondering if anyone reading this has gone through the Lymphoma diagnosis.  I was discussed at an MDT meeting at the local hospital recently (following my bloods and CT scan) and the consultants all agreed I'm highly likely to have Lymphoma.

Going for a Lymph node biopsy on thursday and my mind is all over the place.  Apparently my lymph nodes are enlarged on my CT scan, which I had done 2 weeks ago. It also showed I have an enlarged spleen and "abnormalities" with my liver.

My GP has told me my lymph nodes weren't enlarged back in Feb, when I had an MRI scan. I'm hoping this means I'm likely to be in early stages of Lymphoma?, as the nodes weren't enlarged in Feb. Does anyone have an idea of how fast Lymphoma would develop?.

I don't have any symptoms of Lymphoma (no weight loss, night sweats etc), although yesterday I found a lump in my neck.  My bloods have been coming back abnormal for over a year though (low hg, ferritin and IGA).

I've got 2 kids and I'm not going to settle until I know for definite. Also-I'm 36, not sure if this makes any difference...

  • Hi lollipolli,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about what you're going through - I'm sure the uncertainty must be difficult.

The best thing is to wait for the test you have booked in and then the results - that should provide the information you need, and an opportunity to talk everything through with your doctor. You can make a list of questions to discuss when you next see them so as not to forget anything.

If anyone here has similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon - you can also browse or search the forum for other relevant discussions if it helps.

Wishing you all the best and I hope you can find out more soon,

    Ben
