Positive FIT and covid craziness - super anxious

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is having a good Friday!

2020 is getting better and better..

Just got my FIT test results yesterday (30) and a fast track referral for further investigations.. my GP has still not called me to explain anything (ridiculous) so I have no clue what to expect!

I presume colonoscopy, but are they being done at this crazy time?

I am absolutely terrified. I know it's odds are in my favour (reasonably young at 37, calprotectin low, CRP,  iron ok) BUT at the same time I do have symptoms (constipation/ diarrhea, tummy pain, mid back pain- for the last 3 months ) and my grand dad died of colon cancer. I just got married and have so so do many exciting plans and obviously my mind produces the worst scenarios

Does anyone know what to expect at this point in time? Am I going to be waiting/ worrying for months?

Thanks in advance and hope everyone is doing ok...

  • Hi Primeexample,

I would assume that you are correct and will be referred for a colonoscopy - I think that you would likely have had one even without having a FIT test first in any case.

Given that you are on a fast track pathway, you will very probably have your test done within 2 weeks.

As you say, you are young and generally healthy - cancer is generally theeast likely thing to be found on colonoscopy, but obviously its better to be safe than sorry.

    Best wishes,

    Rich
