hello,
assuming that you had a reason to have a colonoscopy in the first place. When that came back clear suggests no bowel cancer, which must be good news, biopsies to double check for anything else. The fact that a CT scan has been organised should be reassuring insomuch as your medical team are being thorough in getting to the bottom(sorry) of your issues.
My advice is to turn your imagination setting down slightly to the more optomistic level and take comfort in that your problems are not being brushed aside.
hope the scan can deliver some positive answers,
David
Yes, as Dave said, they are being thorough, which is great. But you are now terrified, and that is not good. So my advice is to ask your medical team any question you want. This will reduce your fear. It is fear of the unknown which is the worst. I think the main question on your mind is a simple one: if the colonoscopy was OK, why the CT scan?
The answer may be great. Or it may still be worrying. But with further information you will feel better, or at least less bad.
Everyone on this site understands what hell it is waiting for results. Wishing you all the best, Harry
The colonoscopy was ok as the surgeon didn't see a tumour but took biopsies but it must be cancer or they wouldn't have sent me for the ct scan has anybody else had anything similar happen to them I'm lost
Thanks for your reply Harry I'm taking it that my biopsies mustn't have been ok has anything like this happened to you
Hello Nsp12,
l can well understand your concerns ,but cannot see that at this stage how you can definately state it must be cancer because you are being sent for a scan.Surely the scan is being done precisely to try and establish which of any number of things, many of which do not involve cancer, might possibly be the cause of your problems. After all if you rule out your prime suspect, that was cancer, you still need to identify the problem. As Harry writes, fear of not knowing is a real worry, but presently you appear to have convinced yourself you know the unknown.
l had my gallbladder removed during a liver cancer op,which means l have no metering system of bile released into the bowel,an excess of which can trigger inflammation, leading to bloody diarrhea, which is controlled by a daily powder to bind up excess production. l could rush to the conclusion that my bowel cancer is back, rather than my bile production is excessive.l write this as an example to show that your upcoming scan could arrive at any number of destinations, none of which involve the big C.
Please keep an open mind,as your medical team appear to be doing, and allow for a diagnosis that could include a simple thing easily controlled rather than a big monster, and remember that placing excessive stress upon yourself will make you feel very ill,you cannot change what illness you have, but you can change your response and how you deal with it.
As before l hope the culprit is identified asap, and proves to be easily sorted,
David
Hello and thanks for the reply it's the fact I hadn't received the biopsy results and wasn't told about going for the scan so I'm thinking the biopsies are bad and the person doing the scan said it was for the lower abdomen and my esr was raised in my last blood test I feel like I can't be bothered I'm so pale
Hello,
l would say if the biopsy results were bad you would have heard,so it suggests they were clear.l assume you would have dispayed distessed bowel symptoms, hence the first stop to rule out bowel cancer.l would take the balanced view that the scan is about elimination of what its not, and confirmation of what it could be,the lower abdomen because that is where your problem is centred and to rule out any physical inflammation from any number of causes. If that comes back clear then you move onto something like hormone or chemical imbalances. Best to keep an open mind,
David
If you still have concerns why not speak to one of the nurses on this page, the telephone number is shown
Thanks again for your reply I would have thought I would have heard about the biopsy by now if they'd been clear it was two weeks yesterday it's so hard carrying on with normal life
