Husband has painful lymph nodes

My husband has been having various symptoms for over a year now, he's had several blood, pee and poo tests, several ultrasounds and an MRI. No answers.

His main symptom is painful lymph nodes all over his body, in his chest, groin, stomach and neck. He also just generally feels rubbish and not right. He's really tired all the time. He had an MRI three weeks ago and no one has even looked at his results yet.

We are both really concerned that it could be cancer. But would that not already show up in the various blood tests he's had? It's exhausting waiting for answers and it feels like we can't get on with life until he gets some form of diagnosis or treatment. Anyone else had this issue?

  • Hi,

I really hope your husband is okay and I wish him the very best in getting his results.

I hope you don't me posting here, but i have been experiencing similar issues with my lymph nodes. I have also been having problems with my bowels. I have been having chronic diarrehea with blood present/undigested food.

I understand your husband has had a number of blood tests and stool samples done. I am in the same position, My bloods came back normal and I was told that I wasn't anemic. My first stool sample came back normal, however I was told my GP is going to phone me tomorrow to discuss my latest one.

I am experiencing exactly the same symptoms of your husband. I am tired all the time, my lymph nodes hurt, particuarly in my chest, collarbone, legs and feet. I keep getting radiating pain which moves between them, and in my wrists. I have gone from being an active 30 year old to not having any energy whatsover. I feel like my health is detoriating too.

I have been back and forth with my GP and to be honest I get the impression they are far too laxed. I am 30 years old and was pretty much told that my chances of getting a colonoscopy were virtually zero. Appreciate the NHS is under pressure with Covid-19 but find it appaling how long people have to wait for basic routine tests, only to be fobbed off with blood tests and urine/stool samples.

I saw a private oncologist last week for advice and was told that cancer doesn't necessarily show up in blood works. If a person is anemic this may indicate cancer, however it could also be many other things. I am going to discuss my case with my GP tomorrow and I am going to press to get further tests done.

I am also due to have a telephone consultation with the private oncologist on Friday and I am hoping

he will agree to perform a colonoscopy and CT scan. I will have to pay for these if I can't get anywhere with the NHS, but I am so concerned that I am now willing to go private. Generally, very dissapointed in the level of service I have received from my own GP as he seems very laxed about things.

I am happy to keep you posted with any update and I sincerely wish your husband all the very best.

    Best wishes,

    Adam
