Armpit lump

Hiya,

I have had a lump in my armpit that has gotten bigger over the course of a few months. I recently had an appointment with the nurse who said she didn't think it was anything sinister and gave me antibiotics and said to come back if it hadn't gone down. It didn't go down so the i went back and saw a doctor this time who also gave me more antibiotics which didn't help it. I had to go back yesterday and she just felt it and said that she thinks it could be a cyst but didn't give me a definitive diagnosis. The lump seems to change size all of the time and sometimes it's bigger and sometimes it's smaller. I'm really worried that it could be something more serious as it doesn't really hurt and I had no tests other than them feeling it.

do you think this is okay or should I be worried?

thank you

  • Hi there,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's hard to advise on this, but if you feel you haven't had an answer as to what the issue is, then you should perhaps try to get this from your doctor - or ask for a second opinion from a different doctor. It sounds like you've haven't been told what it is, so it's of course important to find this out.

If you'd like to talk anything through with our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5 - although please note they are not able to diagnose.

    Wishing you all the best,
