Lump in neck

Hi, 

 

I have been watching over this forum around 4 weeks now and decided to post to see if I could find anyone with similar stories? 

 

I found a lump in my neck around 4 weeks ago, kind of if I were a male by my adams apple but slightly to the right. I was sent for an emergency blood test then put on the 2 week refferal to see ENT.

 

ENT said they could feel 2 lumps (there were 2 trainees in the room too) and said he was referring me for an ultrasound and FNA (fine needle aspiration). A few days before the ultrasound I thought i could feel a 3rd lump next to the other lumps in my neck.

 

Yesterday was the ultrasound and FNA, he said there are 5 lumps, he wanted to do 3 biopsies but I could only manage 1 (i am a wimp) he did say to tell him if I couldnt cope with another.

He said the lumps were under 1cm and didn't look "normal" they also seemed darker in colour than normal. 

 

I am now waiting for the biopsy result, providing they dont come back inconclusive.

 

Obviously I have been googling (i know I shouldnt) but I feel I'm already prepared for the worst and I actually find Google has helped weirdly. 

 

Anyone with similar stories to share?

    I am currently waiting for my Neck Ultra-Sound but they didn't mention anything about fine needle aspiration. 

     

    I imagine it must be difficult waiting for your results? Take care!

    If you dont mind me asking do you have lumps in your neck too?

    Have you had an appointment through yet?

     

    It was the ENT that mentioned the FNA and when i had the appointment letter come through it just said US Neck so no mention of FNA. 

    I think they do the FNA it they feel necessary when doing the ultrasound. 

     

    I have always wondered what the FNA drawer in the ultrasound rooms were for :laugh: .

    now it makes perfect sense, it is available there (at my hospital anyway) if they need it.

     

    I actually think the wait is the worst part about it isnt it!

    I have one large lump under my jaw which was my main concern and recently noticed a smaller one in my neck. I have my Ultra-sound on Monday and the letter just said "US Neck" as well. Good to know that they can still go ahead with the FNA there and then. 

     

    Do you know how you will receive your results? Was your blood test okay? Any other symptoms? (if you don't mind me asking :happy: )

    Oh good not too long to wait then. 

    Yes i think if anything looks abnormal or unusual they will do the FNA. 

     

    He said i should get a phone call in about a week.

     

    It was slightly sore at first but I was messing with it a lot, I've started to get EXTREMELY tired, i mean like asleep by 7pm some nights. I did kind of put it down to the kids going back to school though. 

    I have noticed itching every now and again and now I get a clicking noise in my throat when swallowing.

    I have like a constant sore throat and I did have breathlessness (not too bad now).

    I have lost 1 stone in 3 weeks but I am following slimming world.

     

    Also forgot to add my blood tests came back normal and I am constantly cold but not sure if that is related or just weather changes, I know its normally hot sweats in the night but I am really cold during the day.
