Tongue biopsy aftercare

Hi all. Just had a tongue biopsy this morning and the pain is horrendous. I only went for a first appointment and they did the biopsy straight away. I have a question as I have no idea about aftercare. Do I rinse my mouth with warm salted water, if so how much salt and water. Also can I use tcp or orajel on my tongue to deaden it a little. I am having trouble swallowing because of the pain, is that normal. I am hoping someone can give me some advice please.

I initially complained about a sore area underneath my tongue but the dentist was concerned about a white mass and it looked like part of the side of my tongue had eaten away a little. I am a bit shell-shocked as I didn't even notice it. It's all happened so fast from Dr on Monday to hospital today. Just spoke to NHS 111 and the pharmacist said to just rinse with warm salty water and only take 10mg of amitriptyline instead of 35mg as it dries my mouth so much.

Glad you got some advice from pharmacist. I’m currently waiting on a referral that’s taking a long time. I’ve saw my doctor and dentist that can’t see anything but as I think it could be the base of my tongue I’d say they wouldn’t be able to.
