10 sessile serrated colon polyps

Hi everyone

I've been reading a lot on everyone's post and response and you're all so supportive it's nice to see :)

ive just turned 39 and thought I had IBS, through lockdown down it became a lot worse and thought I'd give the doctor a call, I was very lucky to be fast tracked to have a colonoscopy 4 weeks ago. During the procedure they stopped because it was very painful and one polyp was a bit large and couldn't get past to investigate more

so on Wednesday this week I had another one but under general anthesitic. They found another 10 and removed them, 8 of them over were 2cm and the biggest being 4cm...

ive been invited back in 6 months and may need my apendix removed as they couldn't scrape the rest ouy

theyve been sent off for biopsy

in general positive, I'm still a bit shocked that it wasn't ibs and I lost my best friend aged 37 to bowl cancer, I feel blessed I have been seen so quick and had the opportunity but I do feel a little nervous to what the outcome is

has anyone had anything similar? Or had sessile serrated polyps?

thank you in advance

Emma xx

  • Hello Emma,

And a warm welcome to our forum. I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your biopsy results for these colon polyps. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here had sessile serrated polyps before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Emma,

I realise that this is a year later but wondered if you could update me?

I had a second colonoscopy yesterday after having occasional  bleeding. The report says they found over 20 sessile serrated polyps ranging from 5mm to 30mm. They haven't removed any yet as he said they need a meeting to decide the best course of action and might need to remove them in multiple procedures. I'm in shock a bit today and yesterday all seems like a bit of a blur. Any advise would be good? I hope things are good for you now!
